We review bills against the contract you agreed, explain each charge in plain terms, and, where something looks wrong, help you put the query to the supplier in a way that is easy for them to investigate.
Line-by-line review
Every charge checked against the agreed contract.
Reading and estimate checks
Whether the billed period reflects actual consumption.
Query preparation
Clear, evidence-based queries that suppliers can act on.
What we check on a typical invoice
Not every bill needs a forensic review. For most businesses, a structured check of the main elements identifies either reassurance or a specific question worth raising.
- Unit rates and standing charges against the rates you agreed.
- Whether the bill is based on an actual reading, a customer reading or an estimate.
- The dates covered, and whether there is any overlap or gap with the previous bill.
- Capacity or availability charges and whether they match the site's supply.
- Adjustments, credits and any carried-forward balance.
- Climate and environmental levies and VAT at the correct rate.
Common causes of incorrect bills
Most billing problems arise from a handful of situations, and understanding which applies to your account usually shortens the investigation considerably.
- A meter exchange where the old and new readings were not reconciled correctly.
- Estimated readings that drifted away from actual consumption before being corrected.
- A change of tenancy where charges for a previous occupier's period remained on the account.
- A site recorded with the wrong meter details, profile or supply capacity.
- Agreed rates not applied from the correct start date after a renewal or transfer.
Raising and pursuing a query
A well-prepared query gets a faster answer. We help you set out the reading, the period, the charge in question and the reason you believe it is incorrect, then follow the response through the supplier's process.
Where a dispute is not resolved by the supplier's internal process, we explain what further options exist for that type of issue. We do not promise a particular outcome, because the decision rests with the supplier or the relevant dispute body.
Who asks for a bill review
A review is worthwhile whenever a bill looks unfamiliar, unusually high or hard to reconcile.
- Businesses that have just renewed or changed supplier
- Sites that have had a meter exchanged
- Accounts inherited from a previous occupier
- Businesses with a large unexplained balance or credit
- Multi-site accounts where invoices are difficult to reconcile
- Any organisation that simply wants reassurance a bill is correct
Eligibility and what to expect
We can review the information you provide and explain what appears inconsistent, but the supplier remains the party that determines the correct charge. Outcomes depend on the evidence available and the supplier's own investigation.
